Weird car of the Week 14 August 2005 |
Wednesday, 10 August 2005 |
This weeks weird car of the week is the Hindustan Ambassador from India.
Its the first car to be manufactured in India, has been sold new ever since its inception in 1948. It was originally based on a Morris Oxford. Today the engines have been replaced with more modern Isuzu units. Rumor has it when a UK company tried to sell them in the UK as a retro car in the 1990s they almost needed to be rebuilt to improve the qualilty, even the water was drained in case of any water born disease in the Indian water.
